Topshop Opening

Last week I finally had a chance to visit the new Topshop store on Chapel Street! It's the first store here in Australia so it's been exciting for all us Topshop lovers. I've spent a couple years checking out Topshop products online so was happy to finally see them in person.

I was busy shopping so I didn't get many pictures but here are a few quick snaps. I was a little bit sun burnt on this day...

I only ended up buying one dress for myself, I spent a lot more time in the mens section finding last minute Christmas gifts for my brother and dad. They had great, well priced mens printed shirts. I had to tell them what Topshop and Topman is when they opened them though...but I think they appreciated it.

Happy New Years Eve everyone! Enjoy your night out x

Cobalt vs Fuchsia - Runway Looks

Two of the hottest colours for this summer, cobalt and fuchsia. It still only feels like the start of summer here in Melbourne, it has taken a while for the weather to warm up. So these bright colours can help us feel like it's actually summer!

Both shades made appearances on multiple runways for Spring/Summer 2012. Here are some of my favourites.

Elie Saab RTW Spring/Summer 2012 Collection
Look 37                                  Look 38
Look 39                                  Look 40
Look 41                                  Look 42
Look 43                                  Look 44
Look 45                                  Look 46

I seriously love Elie Saab. His designs are amazingly feminine and the bold colour makes them even better. Love the lace detailing, sequins, sheer fabrics and belted waists.
Blake Lively wore this Elie Saab suit (look 37) to an event earlier in the month.

DKNY RTW spring/summer 2012 collection included these pieces in various fuchsia tones.

Look 34                                  Look 35
Look 36                                 Look 37

Alberta Ferretti Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Within the mix of white he used many different colours including one cobalt look and one fuchsia.
Look 11                                Look 24

Look 36                                 Look 37

Look 14                               Look 16

I love this slightly darker shade of fuchsia. If you're not crazy about colour, wearing one bold piece with black and white is a great way to incorporate some brights without it being too intense.

I hope you all had a great Christmas and have an amazing New Year! I hope I have more time for blogging in the New Year. Working in retail around Christmas has been pretty crazy. I want to do an outfit post soon inspired by these cobalt and fuchsia looks.

Party Sparkle

Ah December, the party season is here. A reason to sparkle in lots of sequins for those special occasions.

I'm wearing Sportsgirl Lara embellished dress $169.95

The second dress is one I bought a couple of months ago but is still available here. Sportsgirl Frankie dress $199.95
I wore this dress out for my 20th Birthday in October. I think of it as being a modern day flapper dress. Love.
It's backless so I literally used duct tape to keep my stick on bra in place. Sounds crazy but it worked so well! I was able to dance all night with no problems.
The sequin detailing is amazing.

Also wearing
Left- Betts nude heels, bronze chain necklace, Sportsgirl pearl bracelets
Right- Heels from Santini, Sportsgirl ring
My new heels I bought at Santini, Samar in black plush $90

Perfect for wearing out considering most of my good friends are extremely tall! They make me (almost) as tall as them.

ps. Little Black Beau turned one year old last weekend :) thanks for your support x

Block Heels

I was happy to finally get a pair of these block heels. They're so nice and chunky, making them super comfortable but also giving you heaps of extra height. That's why we all love platforms isn't it?

Sportsgirl Block heel $129.95
I love the mix of colours used, perfect with summer neutrals.

Wearing- Old Dotti skirt, Sportsgirl summer days shirt $79.95, swirl ring, box lock sling $29.95, cafe society belt $16.95

The Windsor Smith Hana heels in black are on my wish list.

They come in bright colours too! you can view the different styles here.

Colour Bomb

This skirt instantly caught my eye, there's so many colours!

Wearing- sportsgirl colour clash skirt $79.95, dolly bustier in teal $39.95

I recently bought this bustier in the teal, as well as the black. I'm not usually one of those girls who shows her bare belly, so I paired it with this high waisted skirt. I have heaps of high waisted skirts so I should get my use out of the bustiers this summer.
sportsgirl necklace $29.95

also wearing sportsgirl shoes, T bar sandals in black $49.95, mermaid nail polish $4.95, mix of sportsgirl bracelets.

Vintage Floral

My two favourite things, 50s silhouettes and vintage inspired floral prints. If a dress looks like it could have once been curtains, chances are I'll love it.

This is one of my current work outfits, so it's Sportsgirl of course.

wearing- Sportsgirl Gemma 50s dress $99.95, cafe society belt $16.95,
Betts nude heels

mix of sportsgirl bracelets, old sportsgirl flower ring, lucky star nails $7.95, fuchsia lipstick $9.95

The large floral print on white reminds me of the dress Marilyn wore for a scene in her last film 'Something's got to give' in 1962, which was left unfinished. They also both have a higher neckline with a v in the back.

For those of you that love her as much as me, here's the scene with the dress.

The Peplum

The peplum has been popping up all over the runway, the red carpet and various retailers recently. This silhouette gives the illusion of a smaller waist and curves so what's not to love.

Here are some designers who included peplums as a feature in their looks for the upcoming season.

Stella McCartney ready to wear Autumn/Winter 2011/12 collection

look 35                                      look 37

Dianna Agron wearing Stella McCartney for the Late show with David Letterman.

Elie Saab resort 2012 collection

I love the colours Elie Saab used for the dresses in the resort collection. Being a single block colour makes it more about the silhouette.
