Red Hot

Welcome to my new obsession - red!
I usually go for quite neutral colours or floral prints but recently I bought a couple of red dresses, now I love this shade.

The artwork is by Jody Pratt, a Melbourne illustrator whose website you can view here.

Sportsgirl easy retro dress in red (also comes in black) $89.95

It's a really flattering shape and perfect for girls that are much bigger at the hips and smaller at the waist. The cut out adds a little something to a simple silhouette.
For the last 2 weeks I've also been rocking lots of red nail polish and lippy.
The red really adds that pop of colour to plain outfits.

Wearing bombshell lipstick and tomato nail polish.

I'm sure all of you would know the Emmy's were this past week. Each awards show there may be a couple of ladies in red however this year the amount of red was at least triple.

Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad, Lea Michele in Marchesa, Adrianne Palicki
Angela Kinsey, Giuliana Rancic in Roberto Cavalli, Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano
Connie Britton, Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan, Kathy Griffin

Both the Modern Family girls Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara worked red with a slight coral shade.

My second red dress has a slight coral tinge. I love lace ofcourse but at the moment I think bright lace is even better. I'm going to do a post on pop coloured lace soon I think.

I wore this outfit to a 21st on Saturday night.

Step Into Spring

Melbourne's weather has finally warmed up a little. Which means I need some motivation to show my extremely pale winter legs, hello new shoes!

I bought these cork wedges at Aldo last week. I went in only to say hi to my friend who was working...but she's a good sales assistant and I walked away with these. Luckily even though they were new in they only cost $59.95.

I was deciding between the Aldo ones and the Sportsgirl Paige Wedge. Do you prefer cork or espadrilles? I still can't decide. I might buy the Sportsgirl ones too.
I wore them with this outfit to work, they're high enough that I can wear longer skirts but not too high that my feet get sore (well I can last about a 5 hour shift). Will be perfect with all the summer dresses coming in.

This post is also my attempt at showing Estelle from Ash & Belle Blog how to wear a 'mullet skirt' without it looking horrible! haha I hope I achieved that, I know it's not everyone's thing though.

Since this was a work outfit, every piece is Sportsgirl apart from the shoes.
Wearing - archers blouse, asymmetrical skirt in black (sold out online but still available in store), washed vintage owl necklace, new inlay leaf ring and subtle mixed set of bracelets (both available in store)

ps. I've been sick all this week so hopefully you can't tell in these photos x

Sportsgirl Beauty

This week the new range of beauty products arrived, it was an exciting day! I had a go at the testers and fell in love with the new body exfoliator scrub. It smells amazing and leaves your skin so soft, I had to buy it right away.

Sportsgirl scrub up body exfoliator $9.95 which you can buy online here or in stores now.

The new body range also includes a hand creme, body shimmer, body wash, sunscreen and body butter. You can view the whole body range here.

I'll have to get the mango body butter soon, it smells so good.

This week we also got in the new lip colours for the pout about it range.
I usually wear quite a subtle lip colour, so I decided to go bold and bought the red. Here I'm wearing bombshell which you can view here.

The new colours include coral, fuchsia and watermelon. The pink and nude were also brought back. The coral is currently available in stores but not online.

I already use quite a lot of Sportsgirls beauty products, they've all been really good and they're well priced compared to most cosmetic brands.

From top left, nail it ballerina, nail it strike a posie, nail it milkshake, scrub up body exfoliator, face glow, body glow, butter dream body butter, brush, pout about it bombshell, draw the line eyeliner, bronze me.

In this post I'm wearing a Dotti dress, thrifted cardi and Sportsgirl necklace and watch.

Speaking of beauty, today is the first day of 30 days of Fashion and Beauty, taking place through Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. You can view the events here.
Alexa Chung is currently in Sydney as the ambassador of the event. Ah I love her!
