Farfetch - Australian Designer Edit

Online retailer Farfetch recently added selected Australian boutiques to their already established list of 300 worldwide. The list includes Melbourne’s Le Louvre and Perth’s Elle boutique, along with Australian designer labels Dion Lee, Ginger & Smart, Alex Perry, Bassike, Ellery, Camilla, We Are Handsome, Senso, Ksubi and Song For The Mute.

With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week currently on in Sydney, Farfetch have asked me to take part in their blogger competition to design my own fashion week event and select my favourite pieces from Farfetch. To celebrate the recent launch I’ve chosen to focus on Australian designer pieces, which I’ve paired back with accessories from international luxury labels.
Overwhelmed by choices, I’ve narrowed down my favourite pieces into two outfits.

The Outfits

1. Ksubi sunglasses 2. Vita Fede cuff 3. Dion Lee sweater 4. Ginger & Smart skirt 5. Eddie Borgo ring 6. Pearls Before Swine ring 7. Ginger & Smart bag 8. Ginger & Smart heels

For the first outfit I worked around the Ginger & Smart printed skirt, pairing it with a cream Dion Lee knit, heels with a rubber outsole and velcro details for a slight sporty vibe. I finished the look with touches of rose gold in the accessories and round sunnies.

1. Lanvin necklace 2. Victoria Beckham clutch 3. Senso heels 4. Ellery dress 5. Pearls Before Swine 6. Kenzo ring 7. Aurelie Bidermann ring 8. Goti bangle

For the evening look I chose this stunning Ellery dress, being drawn to the geometric print and feminine silhouette. I selected a range of silver jewellery, diamond shaped onyx bangle and statement necklace to compliment the various shapes. Paired with a white clutch to contrast the dark tones, with an exposed zipper detail to tie it in and Senso strappy heels to complete the look.

The Venue

The Richard Wherrett Studio in the Roslyn Packer Theatre offers a unique space for events with high ceilings, rustic brickwork and iron beams which gives the room a cool industrial feel. The studio works great as a blank canvas, which can be transformed into a more luxurious space with glamorous lighting and furnishings.

The studio would be the perfect venue space for an intimate runway event during fashion week. The event would feature Australian designers, offering them to a chance to mingle with fellow industry leaders, fashion bloggers and media. Imagining the event to be the launch for Farfetch’s partnership with the Australian labels and boutiques, the runway would feature Ginger & Smart, Dion Lee, Alex Perry and Ellery.

Entertainment

To create the ultimate atmosphere in this unique space, local Sydney singer George Maple would perform live throughout the evening. Signed to record label Future Classic, she’s most known for guest vocals on electronic tracks by Flume and What So Not. She recently released her EP Vacant Space and toured in Australia and internationally, including a guest appearance at Coachella this year. Having seen her perform live earlier this year in Melbourne, I can guarantee she delivers on entertainment and amazing live vocals to cool electronic beats.
