I would say that lace is back but honestly did it ever leave us? One of my first ever blog posts four years ago was discussing the trend of black lace. In years gone by the trend has matured with us, with silhouettes changing to a much more wearable midi length for this Spring. A much classier length while still showing a little skin, it's the perfect balance.
For Melbourne Spring Fashion Week I wore this look from Bardot with heels from Wittner. The Lumi heel features laser cut details in black suede and a comfortable heel height for a day in the city.
Thank you so much to Luke from Turbine Pictures for these photographs.

Cherry Choc
Hmmmm...cherry choc. Well that's what I like to call this deep burgundy colour. Black and burgundy together somehow remind me of a cherry ripe. I'm wearing Sportsgirl pleated skater skirt (burgundy now on sale), 3/4 sleeve lace zip top, fashion metal plate belt and boots from The Iconic.

Festival Style - Coachella
All the images from Coachella circling the web in the past week have been inspiring my festival style. I'm getting pretty pumped for Groovin the Moo in a few weeks, a festival held in Bendigo a small town a couple of hours out of Melbourne.
If only I could pull off gumboots like Kate Bosworth.

Classic festival style: florals, touches of lace, boots, sheer skirts, denim and of course a pair of cool sunnies

Pop Lace
I mentioned in a recent post how much I'm loving bright coloured lace at the moment. The colour blocking trend is in full force at the moment but it can be overwhelming for those of us that aren't use to wearing a lot of colour. Don't get me wrong, I love colour but I can't wear a million bright colours at once. I'm sticking to wearing one bright colour with a few colourful accessories.
I was excited when my first Asos purchase arrived earlier this week, this black A-line skirt. I'm already wearing it to death, this style is a great basic to have in your wardrobe.
Here I paired it with this Sportsgirl cobalt blue lace sweater $89.95 and colourful belt $29.95.
I also tried pairing the same skirt and lace top with pale pink accessories instead of the bold colours. Here I'm wearing cafe society belt $16.95 and a Sportsgirl flower from last spring racing season.

I bought this bow from Diva simply because I thought it was the biggest bow I've seen, it's a bit of fun and was only $5.
I'm wearing fuchsia lipstick, flamingo nails and a Sportsgirl ring. I love hot pinks with cobalt. Think I was inspired by the colour of my feature wall in my room, it's one of my favourite colours.
ps. I turned 20 on the weekend! :)

Red Hot
Welcome to my new obsession - red!
I usually go for quite neutral colours or floral prints but recently I bought a couple of red dresses, now I love this shade.
For the last 2 weeks I've also been rocking lots of red nail polish and lippy.
The red really adds that pop of colour to plain outfits.
Wearing bombshell lipstick and tomato nail polish.
I'm sure all of you would know the Emmy's were this past week. Each awards show there may be a couple of ladies in red however this year the amount of red was at least triple.

Sportsgirl easy retro dress in red (also comes in black) $89.95
It's a really flattering shape and perfect for girls that are much bigger at the hips and smaller at the waist. The cut out adds a little something to a simple silhouette.

Kerry Washington in Zuhair Murad, Lea Michele in Marchesa, Adrianne Palicki
Angela Kinsey, Giuliana Rancic in Roberto Cavalli, Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano
Connie Britton, Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan, Kathy Griffin
Both the Modern Family girls Sarah Hyland and Sofia Vergara worked red with a slight coral shade.
My second red dress has a slight coral tinge. I love lace ofcourse but at the moment I think bright lace is even better. I'm going to do a post on pop coloured lace soon I think.
I wore this outfit to a 21st on Saturday night.

New Love With Elie Saab
There have been so many beautiful gowns throughout this awards season. A massive stand out has been the gorgeous Mila Kunis who has jumped into the A list with her role in Black Swan.
Mila Kunis wore this lavender Elie Saab dress to the Oscars last week. It was a nice surprise because it's such a change from her gowns at the Golden Globes and SAG awards (which were still beautiful though)
This dress is from Elie Saabs Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
Mila Kunis had worn one of his gowns before, at the premiere of Black Swan.
This is look 12 from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection
Other stars have also been fans of his dresses for recent events and throughout the award season.
Scarlett Johansson wore this dress from the same collection to the Golden Globes.

Halle Berry helped make Elie Saab known back in 2002, when she wore one of his gowns while emotionally accepting her Oscar for best actress.
After all this time Halle Berry is still wearing his gowns to events. Recently to the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. What can I say...she still knows how to work it.

Dakota Fanning has recently worn a couple of Elie Saabs dresses to the premieres of her films The Runaways and Eclipse.

Both of these are from Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
They're both pretty but I don't know why she wore two dresses which are so similar and even look the same at a glance. I'm one who loves neutrals, beading and lace but these are too similar to wear to two different premieres. What do you think?

Little Black Lace
If you're like me and love the show Fashion Police you'll know what I mean when I talk about their section 'Gotta have it or make it stop' where they discuss if current trends are hot or not (by the way if you don't watch the show, get on it!). This week the hosts discussed lace and it seems they all agreed that it's great when done in the right way but some just don't understand how to make it classy and hot rather than trashy or old lady.
They agreed that the romantic looking lace is lovely and definitely a must, however skanky and tacky lace is a no no.
If you don't have channel E then check out the article on lace on their website here. The good part about the show is unlike other US shows that air down here months later...we get it hours after it's on!
We saw lace quite a bit throughout this year and I have a few lace dresses I bought myself months ago, however it seems lace isn't leaving us anytime soon since a lot of designers have included it in recent collections as well as celebs working the look (and some not working).
Emma Watson in Rafael Lopez at the Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part one premiere
I think she looks great and the look would of been completely different on another person. Having the bra showing wouldn't of worked with someone with double Ds because they would of looked far more trashy than elegant like Emma. Plus she has the short hair now...so I think she needs to have sexier looks like this so she doesn't look butch.
Kirsten Dunst in Valentino at the All Good Things premiere
I'm not really feeling this look on her..I don't know if it's the sleeves or the top worn underneath but it looks too old on her. I understand she didn't want her boobs hanging out like they had on the runway..but couldn't she of just picked another dress from his collection?
Here's the look when it was on the runway for Valentino Spring 2011 ready to wear collection, the whole collection can be viewed here.
Valentinos Spring 2011 RTW collection was filled with lace dresses. One of which, Jessica Alba recently wore to the Trevor Live Event.
Jessica Alba is looking sweet in look 25 of the collection. I'm glad she didn't wear tights with this one...she needs to show a little skin.. and I'm sure Justin Long agrees.
The same look on the runway
Stella McCartney's resort 2011 collection includes various lace looks. A few are shown below.
Me in a black lace dress I bought around June/July...seems l might still be able to get away with wearing it.
If you don't feel like wearing black lace, here's a couple of options

This is my favourite look from the collection. It looks more youthful and fun, I love the colour and the one shoulder.

I love that this lace makes such a statement since it's so bold compared to the usual floral lace.
