Fashions On The Field

Caulfield Cup is an exciting day of racing, however for me the whole day involved fashions on the field rather than horses. There were many rounds for the women's 18-40 age group, so here are some of the looks.
You can view more of the photographs from the day on the facebook page here.

Colour At Caulfield

Saturday was a beautiful day at the Caulfield Cup, filled with bold colours, prints and so many gorgeous fascinators. I took hundreds of photographs at fashions on the field which I'll share with you on my next post. For now, here's the outfit I wore for the day, this graphic print dress from Decjuba I spotted on the Chadstone vip runway last month. I decided not to go super formal for the day because I wanted to be comfortable while taking photos for hours on end. I was pleased with a simple cut where the focus is just on the great print, paired with a pop of colour with the orange clutch.

Wearing: Decjuba dress, Lovisa fascinator, Zu heels, Sportsgirl clutch and ring.

My friend Jessica is wearing a dress from Bettina Liano and fascinator from David Jones. I love the two bright colours she paired together. All the brands here are from Chadstone, I actually bought my entire outfit on my one hour lunch break!

Spring Racing Style Bar

Last weekend Chadstone held the spring racing style bar with Chadstone stylists Franco Schifilliti and Anika Walker along with milliner Melissa Jackson. Booking a free session meant one on one styling tips from Franco and Anika on your race wear look along with tips on how to accessorise the right fascinator, shoes and jewellery. If you had already bought the dress, you could even bring it in with you for tips on the styling. There were so many amazing standout fascinators on show.

The style bar also included hair and make up tips during your session, so you would be set head to toe for race day.

You can view the whole album on my facebook page here.

A Day At Caulfield

Going on from my previous post, here's the outfit I wore to the Caulfield cup preview day.

I chose to wear this Forever New skirt, after spotting the dress of the same print at the Vogue runway at Chadstone vip night. The graphic print was a real standout to me on the runway. I decided to wear separates for the preview day, thought I'd save the full race wear outfits for the fashion stakes contestants.

Forever New skirt, Sportsgirl silk top, blazer and necklace, Lovisa flower headpiece and nude heels from Betts. All brands are available at Chadstone shopping centre.

Chadstone Fashion Stakes

Last Saturday I attended the Chadstone fashion stakes at the Caulfield cup preview. It was a wonderfully sunny day at Caulfield race course, filled with lots of spring fashion and good company.
The fashion stakes were in three categories, ladies aged 40 plus, stylish gentlemen and then finishing the afternoon with ladies aged between 18-40.

The lovely ladies from the 40+ category. The above photograph of the top three finalists with the host Jesinta Campbell (wearing Kirrily Johnston)

We then got a special opportunity to hear from Franco Schifilliti, stylist for Chadstone on his views of trends for the spring carnival season, demonstrating with real women rather than models.

The women are wearing Manning Cartell, Lisa Ho and Carla Zampatti.

Franco proved that it's possible for women to wear separates to the races, with the Manning Cartell look and surprisingly the Lisa Ho look, actually being a skirt and top worn to look like a dress. I also love the colour of the Carla Zampatti dress, it's kept simple which makes it all about the great colour and flattering cut.
Franco also included this colourful menswear number from Calibre, showing that men no longer have to stick to simple black suits.

Vogue Style Workshop

Last weekend the Vogue style workshops were held at Chadstone, styled by the lovely Penny McCarthy. Decked out in a printed Witchery suit, Penny showed the audience how to simply change up an outfit by adding one new garment or a few accessories.

The stage included a little dressing area, where Penny styled models right in front of our eyes to show how quickly a look can be dressed up or down. The area included beautifully fitted blazers, metal accessories, statement necklaces and lots of shoes, all of which are available at Chadstone.

One of my favourite pieces is the gold peplum blazer by Thurley, which Alice actually ended up wearing to the Caulfield Cup preview we attended on Saturday. You can view her post with photographs I took of her here.
