Forever New Pop Up Runway

As most of you probably know, this week was the L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Tuesday I popped by the sidewalk Forever New show at Fed Square.

This Autumn/Winter collection was introduced as 'enchanted princess' and was inspired by ballet. The show opened and closed with dance performances to music from Swan Lake.

Here are a few photos I snapped.

The ballet inspiration can easily be seen in the tulle skirts, lace details, beading and feathers.
I like that they also had some stronger looks in the collection (instead of it all being inspired by ballet dresses) like the fitted blazers and the jackets... and it's good they threw some denim and prints in too.
The colours are all very typical of Forever New, sticking to neutrals, cream, grey, pinks and a little black. Forever New is always pretty and honestly, these colours make up most of my wardrobe but I have heard a lot of people say that their clothing never changes which I think is kind of true. They may have different cuts and styles depending on the season and current trends but generally they have the same colour palette. Is it good to be consistent if it works or should they change things up sometimes?

If you want to see more photos of the collection they can be viewed here.

Mad About Tights

I've been going crazy for all the tights around lately. I seriously can't remember the last time I wore pants.

I love statement tights!
There are so many to choose from...or if you're like me just buy them all.

All of these are currently available at Sportsgirl and can be found here under the hosiery section.

Floral net tight $16.95

I bought these babies today. I've been wanting them for a while because well...they're floral. love.

Bow fishnet $16.95

I like that these kind of have a mixed message... yes they're fishnets but they also have cute little bows. So they sort of have that good girl vs bad girl thing that so many singers seem to sing about.

Femme fatal tight $19.95

When I first wore these my mum described them as an 'architectural structure' and said they look like iron lace...and now I can also kind of see how they look like the details of a building.

Heart tight in nude $16.95

I bought these last month and I've already worn them to death. Every time I wear them someone compliments them or asks me if I'm even wearing tights...since apparently at first glance they look like hearts stuck to me haha.
The flash made them look shiny here but they're not.

I liked the heart ones so much that I decided to try the black sheer pair as well.

Heart tight in black $16.95

I can't decide which ones I like better now.

New Love With Elie Saab

There have been so many beautiful gowns throughout this awards season. A massive stand out has been the gorgeous Mila Kunis who has jumped into the A list with her role in Black Swan.

Mila Kunis wore this lavender Elie Saab dress to the Oscars last week. It was a nice surprise because it's such a change from her gowns at the Golden Globes and SAG awards (which were still beautiful though)

This dress is from Elie Saabs Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Mila Kunis had worn one of his gowns before, at the premiere of Black Swan.

This is look 12 from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection

Other stars have also been fans of his dresses for recent events and throughout the award season.

Scarlett Johansson wore this dress from the same collection to the Golden Globes.

Halle Berry helped make Elie Saab known back in 2002, when she wore one of his gowns while emotionally accepting her Oscar for best actress.

After all this time Halle Berry is still wearing his gowns to events. Recently to the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards. What can I say...she still knows how to work it.

Dakota Fanning has recently worn a couple of Elie Saabs dresses to the premieres of her films The Runaways and Eclipse.

                      Look 9                         Look 11

Both of these are from Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

They're both pretty but I don't know why she wore two dresses which are so similar and even look the same at a glance. I'm one who loves neutrals, beading and lace but these are too similar to wear to two different premieres. What do you think?
